Prof. Felsenstein introduces the principles of community economic development - economic development for the community by the community. He describes several methods of community economic development such as the Local Exchange Trading System, corporate responsibility, and support for small businesses. He points out the central role of the social worker in identifying local abilities, empowering the community and in mediating between major figures and institutions inside and outside the community.
