The National Economic Council in the Office of the Prime Minister published a policy agenda aimed at stimulating growth for the long-term while simultaneously reducing poverty.
The National Economic Council has proposed two long term goals:
- To reduce poverty while encouraging growth
- To create leverages for balanced, long-term growth
In pursuit of the first goal, the Agenda sets two policy targets:
- An average annual reduction of 1% in the rate of poverty for the years 2008-2010
- An average annual increase of 1% in the employment rate for the years 2008-2010
